Our laboratory is dedicated to understanding the biology of infectious human pathogens to develop new strategies for preventing and treating disease. While our primary research focuses on Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative agent of tuberculosis, we also investigate a diverse range of clinically relevant bacterial pathogens. By combining microbiology, molecular genetics, host-pathogen biology, and computational approaches, we seek to uncover vulnerabilities that can be exploited for therapeutic intervention. Through interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers in chemistry, biology, and medicine, we help design and evaluate novel antimicrobial compounds to address the growing global challenge of drug resistance. Our mission is to translate fundamental discoveries into innovative therapeutics that improve human health.
